While you are waiting for clothes to dry, or somewhere down the line,
I know you've been up all night, and those countless cups of coffee will run you dry but know this. Take it for all it is. You're 21 years old and one day you'll forget how you pushed it to the limit and ended up feeling like a fuck-up worthless piece of shit.
But this morning you will have clean underwear and bedsheets, homework that is complete and exhaustion that you must smile through.
Even though that program that catalogs your time already annoys you and old responsibilities are still some dirt on your hands, embrace them. Feel like you've done something special because you have.
You just did some stem and leaf plots for bacterial colonies and watched Date Night starring Steve Carrel and Tina Fey. You thought it was really funny, considering your expectations were dull. Fuck it that no one in their right mind would be awake. Learn from it though, and never do it again.
Besides, who could go to school full time, work in a different city, give time to her sorority and put out an eight track album while having room to party? It's not such a glamorous lifestyle. Maybe it needs some work, but take that into consideration when evaluating. I know you don't believe in new years resolutions. I know that this is the closest thing you're going to get.
So do what would make you proud. Start running again only if it gives you back some vigor. Smile sometimes when you don't feel like it, and if only it becomes sincere in return. eat vitamin sandwiches because you think that's so funny, keep having adventures but be well-rested as to enjoy them.
Tomorrow (or rather Today) go to class and ask questions, eat breakfast lunch and dinner, write songs for your new Theta sisters so they have a great experience like you had. Make this time worth it even though lately you've been throwing this life out the window like it's something in your way.
and lastly, be ready to put yourself out there. You've done it before, in every play or show you've done. You know how to do this. Remember those key words whispered backstage before the lights come up:
"Don't fuck up"
Love,
Kelli
