birds warn other birds

sometimes things start to look up;
a future maxim
or a moth that lands,
it's face to mine like a baby bat.
the itches and scratches
and' how did you do that' s
i'll couch the sounds around your neck
and bite them into place.

the skateboard on the porch
can only move back and forth
like i will rhyme
house and blouse and mouse and grouse
to the music you creak out between orange and yellow
beer caps on hardwood.

i'll go out for a minute after changing my mind
it's back and forths
deaf to acuity, cloudy perspicuity.
a small spider floats it's body through the light
so I tell it instead of you
that i'm sorry, i hate it when we fight.
